High quality well bore fluid and gas samples are collected at reservoir pressure from multiple levels to detect the CO2 arrival at Naylor-1 and to characterise chemical changes associated with the CO2 arrival.

The U-tube sampling system was developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the CO2CRC.



Soil gas samplingSoil gas sampling

Scientists collect a sample of naturally-occurring gases that are found in the soil at the Otway Project site prior to the injection of CO2. Regular sampling of the soil gas is part of the monitoring program.
